Like Giving Fresh Blood to a Starving Great White

The audacity to think that we would ever taste good in the first place.

The Brothers V first discovered the illustrations of Austrian artist Alfred Kubin (10 April 1877 – 20 August 1959) when we were nine years old, we were in our grandfathers attic when we stumbled across an old book filled with his work, the images were like haunting dreams and they seduced us into their magnetic web, twisting our virgin art guts and new minds in ways we never believed possible. That night, after our discovery, all 3 of us had identical dreams, we were long necked creatures, half man, half nothing, we were gathering invisible objects and storing them in our big naked bellies, walking across a vast landscape full of shadows toward a dark horizon that promised everything and nothing. The dream and the images had a profound effect on us, it became an obsessive mission to discover visual material that slapped us in the face and made us dream and from that day on we began to collect.

Music is the most important tool a director has to work with. Because music enhances emotion and any kind of art form is about expressing and enhancing emotions. And what’s good about music is that it’s so pure. It’s pure emotions. I mean the first movies for many years were just pictures with music. So it’s based on that combination. - Nicolas Winding Refn

You know, everyone wishes for a specific, selfish way to be loved,
while some people,
or even most people,
aren’t even loved at all.

Don’t look for the quirks of her smile,
or the way his eyes flicker when you turn the lights on in the morning.

Don’t look for the soil of her laugh,
or for the reasons behind his pain.

If it all happens to amount to love,
then rest assured
for these things
will show themselves.
